Sacramento News and Review

I illustrated the Sex & Love issue of the Sacramento News and Review, here's a shot of the cover, and some of the interiors. It was a lot of work but it's nice to do a connected series of images, and gives the newspaper a nice consistency. I was also able to do some wonky hand-type on the cover which was very fun.

A day in the life...

This is the first page of a short comic for a German publisher. The theme was: "January 10th, 2008!" I translated the story into English and will publish it as part of my very own Casual Comics #2, debuting at this year's MoCCA Festival in NY.

Confessions of a Gasoline Huffer

This is a story that I illustrated for the current issue of The Stranger. It's about a guy who spent one summer huffing gasoline while working as a handyman for an elderly couple. You can read the entire story here.

New York Times Letters Illustration

I did this one for yesterday's issue of the New York Times. It's about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and its devastating effects on soldiers coming home from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Editorial Portfolio Update

You can see some fresh images in the Editorial 1 & 2 galleries of my website. I've added two large color pieces I did for Isthmus around the holidays, and re-organized and added a few images to the black & white gallery.

I was invited to contribute 8 pages of artwork along the theme of "Destinations". You can order a copy directly from the F |M website, just send an email to info[at]finestmagma.com. Paul Hoppe Magma

Winter in Weingarten

Paul Hoppe in Weingarten

I just returned from my most recent trip to Germany. I had a great time, visiting family and friends and enjoying some down time. Here is a shot that I took on one of many walks with my father through the Upper-Swabian countryside. (Yes, it was cold! But very pretty.)
