Eurotrip: Munich

Finally got around to scanning this, some sketches from Munich, from our big Eurotrip in September. The large drawing is in the courtyard of the Neues Rathaus and the people doodles are from the Oktoberfest. I didn't know that dirndls were considered ultrahip these days! Or maybe that was always the case at the Oktoberfest...

New York Times Book Review

I had the pleasure of doing an illustration for Nicholas Blechman over at the NYT Book Review. It's for the crime novel RISK by Colin Harrison. The protagonist is investigating the death of a former Wall Street broker. It's also an ode to the life in New York City. You can read the full article here, or you can find it in yesterday's issue (if you have a copy, please let me know! I didn't get to pick one up).

Eurotrip: Paris

Here are a few location sketches from our trip to Europe, these were done in Paris. From top to bottom: Notre Dame (we actually went onto the very top), Jardin des Tuileries (wonderfully relaxing park at the Louvre), random people, and Pont Alexandre III (a cool bridge that spans the Seine).

Octopus

Just before I went on the plane to go on my Eurotrip, I had the pleasure of doing this illustration for The Stranger, about the Giant Pacific Octopus that can be found in the waters around Seattle. Fascinating creatures, but they can be quite scary. Here is the article. AD Aaron Huffman.
