Philadelphia Weekly Cover

Recently I've got my hands on some copies of a cover that I did last year. It was for the Philadelphia Weekly, and ended up being Chosen for American Illustration 26. It never gets old, it is always very exciting to see a piece printed in person. You can see a large version of the drawing in my Editorial 1 section of my website. Thanks to Sara Green, Art-Director over at the Philadelphia Weekly!

New York Times Illustrations

This weekend, I had two illustrations in The New York Times.
The one on the left was for Sunday's Week in Review section. It is for an article that raises the question why Psychology programs have largely gotten rid of Psychoanalysis courses.

The second piece came out on Saturday, on the Letters Page. As you can see, the subject is lost luggage in air travel.

The Stranger Illustrations

Here's a story I illustrated for the current issue of The Stranger in Seattle. It's about a woman who fights depression by baking all 106 recipes in Martha Stewart's Holiday Cookies. You can read the entire story here.

And here's some crazy cookies that they used as vignettes:

This is a large illustration that came out in the current issue of New York Press. It's a special edition of the "Outside the Box" column. You can read the entire article here.

American Illustration Party

Last night was the party for American Illustration 26 and American Photography 23. It was great fun to hang out with so many creative professionals.

Here is a snapshot of the wall where all winning entries were displayed. You can see the "Night of the Rabid Rabbit" Cover, a collaboration between Sam Weber and me. Thanks Sam! And thanks to Mark Heflin and American Illustration!

Drawing for New York Press

I'll be illustrating Kelly Kreth's Here's column "Outside the Box" for the New York Press on a regular basis now. It's a column about dating, sex, relationships and other shenanigans. Now I'm like Carrie Bradshaw. Well, more like her typewriter. I'm looking forward to illustrating Ms. Kreths adventures in the big city!

Here's the first piece, it came out last week. In it she writes about the authors and writers she would want to have sex with (WILFs). The featured example is James Frey. For the entire text, please click here.

Society of Publication Designers

Good News! My work was selected by the jury of the Spot Illustration Competition of the Society of Publication Designers (SPD). It will appear in a special Annual featuring the winning entries.

My winning entry is from a feature I did for the New York Press in February 2006. It was The Brooklyn Issue, featuring a number of Brooklyn Neigborhoods, which were all illustrated with my drawings. The cover of that issue also made it into Frestil 3- Best of European Commercial Illustration.
