Digestate comic anthology

Here is the opening panel of my 2-page contribution to the new, food-themed comic anthology Digestate, published and edited by JT Yost and BirdCageBottom Books.


This is a big book with over 50 contributors, and I'm in excellent company. Other cartoonists include Jeffrey Brown, Alex Robinson, James Kochalka, and also a lot of my Rabid Rabbit colleagues. The cover is by Cha.

Many thanks for JT Yost for putting all this work and effort into Digestate, I'm thrilled to be a part if it.

Book project with Highlights for Children

Here's a look at my biggest current project, an activity book with Highlights for Children , the well-known magazine for kids that also publishes books. Above, you can see an early sketch, below is a work in progress of the finish, and a close-up. The drawing is all done by hand on paper, though this time I'm using very simple pens and have to say that I'm liking how it feels. The coloring is done digitally.

New York ComicCon

I'll have my own half-table at New York ComicCon this year, it's not only my first time exhibiting there, but also the first time attending a big, American Con. It always seemed a bit… too much. But, I have been embracing my nerd-roots more openly, and so I decided now is the time!

I'm very excited about getting into the Artist Alley with many acclaimed artists of the comicbook field. If you've also never been, you should join me and check it out! I'm sure it'll be a blast.

Comic for MogaMobo 108: The Meaning of Life

I had the pleasure of contributing to the latest issue of MogaMobo, the long-running German comic anthology published by Titus Ackermann, Jonas Greulich und Thomas Gronle (aka LeGron). The theme of their 108th issue (!) was nothing less than "The Meaning of Life".

The book was published as part of the 1st annual German Comic Clash, a competition between comic zines and anthologies, which was also organized by these guys (they're busy!).

Talbots Window Display

Earlier this year I was approached by a friendly art buyer for the Talbots department store chain, they had seen a location drawing of mine on this very blog, and wanted to use it nationwide for their window displays. I supplied them with a vektorized version and this weekend I finally saw it "in person", here in Manhattan (and I assume in other stores across the country). It was a thrill seeing my work on such a scale! Many thanks to the friendly people at Talbots!

I have a new piece in this weekend's New York Times Book Review, illustrating a review of Karl Taro Greenfeld's new book Triburbia, which describes the life of people in Manhattan's district Tribeca. You can read the full review here.

Activity book with Highlights magazine

Here are all the sketches for the first of a multiple-book project I'm doing with Highlights magazine. It's all off to the publisher now…

For this book I created mazes and hidden pictures and such, at times my brain was spinning, but I think I got the hang of it!
